Health Nexus is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing health equity through accessible, multilingual health education and public health resources. The organization relies on high-quality healthcare translation and Canadian French localization to make critical health information accessible to families, caregivers, and underserved communities.
This healthcare and nonprofit translation case study highlights how Art One Translations supported Health Nexus’s multilingual public health programs by maintaining terminology consistency, applying plain-language principles, and delivering accessible bilingual content across multiple formats and programs.

Health Nexus is a government-funded nonprofit organization focused on advancing health equity. The organization supports partners and communities in co-designing and delivering multilingual, digital, and inclusive educational materials for individuals, families, caregivers, and underserved populations.
Their work spans critical public health areas, including early childhood development, caregiver support, and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), with a strong emphasis on accessibility and bilingual communication.

Health Nexus required a reliable partner to support the ongoing delivery of sensitive public health content across multiple programs.
This work extended beyond translation. Content needed to be clear and accessible for diverse audiences, delivered in inclusive Canadian French, and consistent across multiple programs with strict, pre-approved terminology. Each program operated with its own glossary and evolving materials, making consistency and continuity of terminology critical requirements.
At the same time, content had to be adapted across multiple formats, including webinars, training presentations, and website materials, requiring consistency across both languages and delivery formats.
This nonprofit translation case study demonstrates how Art One Translations supported Health Nexus’s multilingual public health programs.
Since 2022, Art One Translations has supported Health Nexus with fully managed nonprofit translation services, ensuring consistency, clarity, and scalability across three core programs: FASD, First Exposure, and Petite Enfance.
The scope of work included translation (English to French Canada, with occasional French to English), full TEP workflow (translation, editing, proofreading), multilingual desktop publishing services, including post-translation layout and image localization, transcription of webinars and podcasts, multimedia localization services, such as subtitling and closed captioning, and website content localization.
In addition to English and French, Art One also supported Health Nexus with other languages for select projects, ensuring broader accessibility across communities.
To achieve consistency and quality, a structured linguistic framework was implemented. Separate translation memories and termbases were maintained for each program, with continuous glossary updates aligned with client-approved terminology.
Plain-language and accessibility principles were applied across all content to promote clarity for diverse audiences, while maintaining consistency across evolving materials. All deliverables were provided as publication-ready files, integrated directly into final layouts.
Over time, the team developed deep subject-matter familiarity. As noted by Health Nexus:
“We have worked with ArtOne for quite a few years on translations for our various programs. Over the years, ArtOne has been able to fully understand the specifics of the FASD community and has developed quite a lexicon of the appropriate terms to use and the necessity to use non-stigmatizing language and gender-neutral language wherever possible in French.”
